Councilman Brian Cummins - Biography  Excerpt:

As Councilman, Brian has focused on developing stronger community representation through block and civic groups and increased efficiency and collaboration in the delivery of community development services.

In 2010 he worked with Councilman Matt Zone and Councilman Jay Westbrook in initiating a new community development service model. The council members collaborated with neighborhood residents and leaders and provided funding assistance, together with Neighborhood Progress Inc., to create a new service office for the Stockyards, Clark Fulton and Brooklyn Centre neighborhoods.

This new community development office is managed by the Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization with oversight provided by a Community Advisory Council.

Councilman Cummins is a strong advocate for a mixed-used urban community by supporting economic development opportunities as well as trail, green space and watershed related projects to improve the quality of life in ward 14.

Councilman Cummins places great emphasis on involving local small businesses and investors and partnering with the private sector to encourage investment in ward 14. The Councilman is also involved with area social service agencies in reviewing programs and seeking collaborations to ensure programs best serve community needs.  See full biography.

Brian Cummins for Cleveland's Ward 14: endorsement editorial Print By Editorial Board on October 26, 2013

"Cummins...seeking his third term, still has an impressive amount of fire in the belly for tackling the challenges of this ward, with what may be the largest Hispanic ward population in Ohio. Cummins deserves re-election on Nov. 5.

...Unfair city council redistricting in April will make it hard for any council representative to lead such a fractured ward. That should not happen the next time there is redistricting...[Cummins] has easily earned re-election Nov. 5."
